October is Healthy Workplace Month!

Healthy Workplace Month is a nation-wide initiative that aims to highlight the importance of a comprehensive and holistic approach to workplace health in Canada.

From October 1 – 31, 2018, the Healthy Workplace Initiative (Saskatoon) recognizes Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month®  and the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s ongoing commitment to creating healthier workplaces and a healthy organization. To help celebrate, the following ideas, resources and activities/events are offered for all staff.

This virtual wellness program includes videos to support stress reduction and deep relaxation. Led by Michael Apollo, these videos can even be viewed with a headset while sitting at a desk. Permission to link to these free video resources has been generously provided by the University Health Network (UHN).

Visit our virtual health fair which offers a variety of screenings, tools and resources to help you assess your current status and make improvements towards a healthier self. New additions for Healthy Workplace Month include:

Saying When – mobile app to help quit drinking or cut down.

Stand Up! – simple app reminds you to stand up and take a break.

Well-Being Checklist – Questions to help you get a clearer picture of your situation.

Stress Responder Scale – Get insight right now into your stress response and how that predicts your happiness and success-and most importantly a customized action plan to help move you from stressed to successful.

The key to long lasting change is making small changes that when combined have a BIG impact!

Every weekday between October 15 and October 26, 2018, participants will receive an email with a “Small Changes” Challenge they can take on to create a healthy change in their daily life.  Sign up on your own, or gather a team together to complete the daily challenges.  Sign up for the Small Changes Challenge today and be entered to win prizes!

Events & Activities

Free Mindfulness Program available for all Saskatchewan Health Authority Staff. Join the organization-wide challenge which begins Tuesday, October 2, 2018, and learn some immediately useable mindfulness techniques. Each staff participating is also able to invite a buddy (can be anyone, friend, partner, sister…) to join them for free.
